Allen Bradley  > Rockwell Automations small AC drives gives ample management to lower expenses for machine builders

A new Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation AC drive has been created to give just enough control and lower the expenditure of creating, configuring and installing machines . The creation of Rockwell Automation / Allen Bradley PowerFlex 523AC drive was due to demands from prospective clients.

The Powerflex 523AC has a power range from 0.2-11kW and is targeted specifically at creators of simple standalone machines. Customers can upload and download drive-configuration files by USB, and program a drive-configuration file via usb, as well as programming a drive by a human interface module which shows information on a LCD with scrolling text and explanations of parameters and other codes. Control options consist of: economiser mode and a V/f sensorless vector control.

Special tools called CustomView and AppView found by the Human Interface Module or configuration by supplying sets of parameters for standard programs and they allow customers to save their setting to new parameter groups. Eliminating the drives control module from the power module could reduce start-up times even more, enabling installation and configuration to happen instantly. Also the additional dual-port IP/Ethernet  adapter will support ring topologies and gives device  level ring functions that could help to give network resiliency as well as enhancing machine availability. Whenever a device level ring network registers a break inside the ring, it will provide an alternative routing for the data. Ring topologies can eliminate the requirement for external switches and lowers the need for cabling.
