Kiepe EDO Speed Monitoring\r\n\r\nElectronic Speed Monitor\r\nEDO

Product Description

Kiepe EDO Speed Monitoring\r\n\r\na p p l i c a t i on\r\n\r\nThe electronic speed monitor relay EDO is used in connection with\r\na pulse sensor to monitor the rotational speed and standstill of\r\ndrives.\r\n\r\nPulse sensors according to NAMUR EN 50227 as well as 3-wiresensors\r\ncan be connected to the EDO relay. The pulse output\r\nis fed to the speed monitor relay where the pulse frequency is\r\ncompared with the frequency set by the control of the relay. When\r\nthe input frequency passes the set frequency the internal output\r\nrelay is switched.\r\nWarning or control equipment can be connected to this output\r\nrelay and operate when the speed either increases or decreases\r\nfrom the setpoint.\r\nThe new multi-layer contact of the output relay improves the true\r\noperation of the contact in a wide range up to 5 A and 250 V.\r\nThe operation of the relay can be inhibited during start-up of the\r\nmonitored drive by adjusting the start-up potentiometer to the\r\ntime taken for the drive to reach operating speed.\r\nThe device is intended for use in stationary installations and in\r\nvehicles.\r\n\r\nOptions\r\n\r\n• A special design is available to meet requirements where the\r\nspeed monitor unit should be installed close to the monitored\r\ndrive and its pulse sensor.\r\nThe design consists of speed monitor relay EDO being installed\r\nin a plastic housing, of IP 65 protection. The true operation of\r\nthe device can be readily observed through the transparent\r\ncover of the plastic housing.\r\nThe features of this arrangement are:\r\n- Shortened length of screened cable between pulse sensor\r\nand relay adjustment at commisioning with visual contact to\r\nthe drive.\r\n- The output signal of the relay can be interference free\r\ntransmitted to the control equipment without using the\r\nscreened cable.\r\n• A feature of the Kiepe speed monitor relays is that any number\r\nof speed monitors can be connected to only one transducer.\r\nThe pre-set trip points of the individual speed monitor relays\r\ncan be varied.\r\n\r\no p e r a t i n g p r i n c i p le\r\n\r\nThe circuit arrangements of the speed monitor relay EDO makes\r\nuse of the advantages of digital pulse input. There are no\r\ntime lags normally encountered with analog devices. The unit\r\ncompares the time between successive input pulses and its preset\r\nfrequency.\r\nDifferences result in immediate switch-off of the output relay.\r\nThe output relay will switch, too, if the connected pulse sensor\r\nbecomes damaged or the powersupply fails.\r\n\r\nse t t i n g c on t r ols\r\n\r\nStart-up delay potentiometer\r\nOperation of the relay can be inhibited during start-up by\r\nadjusting the potentiometer over the range of 0 to 7 40 sec.\r\ndepending on the time taken for the monitored drive to reach\r\noperating speed.\r\nPulse range selector switch\r\nThe trip point can be adjusted within the range of 6 to 6000\r\npulses per minute. This total range is devided into 3 continously\r\nadjustable setting ranges.\r\nThe maximum operating frequency is 12.000 pulses /min.\r\nThe indication beside the pulse range selector switch signifies\r\npulses /min. and not r.p.m..\r\n\r\nPushbutton\r\n\r\nPressing of the pushbutton links the output relay during the\r\nadjustment of the trip point and prevents the drive from\r\nbecoming cut-off during the adjustment.\r\nSetpoint potentiometer\r\nprovides trip point adjustment within the range of the adjusted\r\npulse range.\r\nLED-diode, green\r\nindicates state of output relay.\r\nLED „lit“ means operating speed above setpoint -\r\noutput relay energized\r\nLED „off“ means fault, operating speed below trip point -\r\noutput relay de-energized\r\nLED-diode, orange\r\nThis LED will be lit or flashes according to the received pulses.\r\nFrom 1500 pulses /min. up the flashing will change to a continous\r\nlight. If the speed monitor relays is under operation, but the\r\norange LED remains to be off (out), either the pulse transducer or\r\nthe wiring between sensor and relay unit fails.\r\nAdditional switch-off delay\r\nIn order to avoid spurious fault indications, given by jolt in drive\r\nsystems the output relay can have a fall off feature by bridging\r\nterminals Y 21 - Y 22. Three „switch off delay times“ can be\r\nprogrammed by positioning a jumper located on the lower PCB.\r\nPulses / min. Position of the pulse range switch\r\nCut-out delay in sec.*\r\n* Pick-up time of relay not considered\r\n6 ... 60 1 pulse /min 10 ... 1\r\n60 ... 600 10 pulse /min 1 ... 0,1\r\n600 ... 6000 100 pulse /min 0,1 ... 0,01\r\nJumperposition Switch-off delay\r\nin seconds\r\n1 10,0 s\r\n1 2,5 s\r\n1 0,5 s\r\n\r\no p e r a t i ons\r\n\r\nEDO used as underspeed or standstill monitor\r\nwith start-up delay\r\nThe internal output relay will be energized and the green LED will\r\nbe lit until the start-up delay is completed (contact 15 - 18 closed).\r\nThe relay will be cut off if the operating speed is below the set\r\npoint and the start-up delay is completed (contact 15 - 16 closed).\r\nEDO used as overspeed (maximum speed) monitor\r\nwithout start-up delay\r\nMove the internal slide switch from position 1 to 2. In this\r\noperating mode the unit reacts when the pre-set speed is\r\nexceeded, without locking on. The output relay de-energizes, and\r\nthe green LED goes out. Failure of pulses are not signalled. If this\r\nis required, then model EDO should be used.\r\n\r\nTe c h n i c a l D a t a\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDevice complies with EN 50178-94\r\nEN 50081-1\r\nEN 50082-2\r\nOperating principles Underspeed, slip, standstill or overspeed monitoring\r\nMechanical Relay casing with front terminals.\r\nTwo PCB´s direct soldered to the front terminals\r\nActuating supply voltage AC 230 V, 50 ... 60 cyc., (Other voltages by request).\r\nVoltage tolerance 8 10 %\r\nPower consumption Approx. 3 VA\r\nAmbient temperature - 20 °C ... + 55 °C\r\nStorage temperature - 30 °C ... + 70 °C\r\nTrip point accuracy ! 1 % (at constant ambient temperature)\r\nReset differential 10 % at pre-set speed.
