Weidmüller is the leading manufacturer of components for electrical connection technology. We develop, produce and sell a wide spectrum of products from terminal blocks through connectors to relay sockets, I/O sockets and enclosures for every type of application.

Weidmuller Terminals

Weidmuller IDC Technology Terminals

IDC means Insulation Displacement Connection. This tried and tested connection technology from the telecoms and automotive industry is now widely accepted for feed-through terminal blocks in various industrial applications.

The Weidmuller IDC technology results in minimum work during installation but still guarantees reliable contact, and all without special cable preparation tools, the associated time or cost.
Your advantages:

•fast = reduction of mounting times of up to 75%

•reliable = safe connections through external tensioning

•slim = compact design with only 5mm width

Suitable conductors IDU 1.5N
Suitable conductors IDU 2.5N
Suitable conductors Siemens ET 200S

If it is not possible to connect a certain type of conductor, Weidmüller hybrid terminals may be the best solution. These terminals have an IDC connction on one side and either a screw or tension clamp connection on the other.

Weidmuller IDC-technology for sensors and actuators.

The principle
Two current bars in the individual terminal (or three with separate PE / earth function) are used to provide potentials. They are supplied via a supply terminal and the internal crossconnections. Two other current bars act as a feed-through terminal for forwarding signals.

The internal cross-connection
The cross-connections are already integrated within the individual terminals. The female contact is on one side of the terminal and the male contact on the other. The modular design means that variable terminal strips can be created for different applications.

The alternative versions:

Supply Terminals                                                                                                                 Initiator Terminals

Supply made easy with additional labelling options
Voltage supply and signal relaying in one terminal

Actuator Terminals                                                                                                Initiator Terminals with park position

Simple connection of an actuators For connecting 4L-initiators:

The NCC/NOC currently not in use can be connected to the insulated contact, so that rewiring later on is no problem.

Weidmuller Tension Clamp Connection Terminals

Terminal blocks with springtype connection technology, i.e. tension clamp. In addition to screwtype terminals we offer our customers the tension clamp technology as a further connection technology system.

Our innovation: IDC2 - Reduced width and shortened length.

IDC stands for Insulation Displacement Connection.

The IDC technology results in minimum work during installation but still guarantees reliable contact, and allwithout special cable preparation tools, the associated time or cost.

Weidmuller Screw Connection Terminals

Optimum contact ensured through the patented and renowned clamping yoke system which is based on the classical increase of force of the screw. Requring only small effort, the screw thread produces high contact power.

Weidmuller Screw Connection Terminals

Terminal blocks with springtype connection technology, i.e. tension clamp. In addition to screwtype terminals we offer our customers the tension clamp technology as a further connection technology system

A high contact force is only effective when continuously excerted on the conductor. The Weidmüller clamping yoke system works as follows: When the clamping screw is tightened, the resultant force causes the upper thread overlap to spring open, thus causing a locking action to be exerted on the screw. Movement of the connected conductor is compensated by the elastic behaviour of the clamping yoke.

Weidmuller Screw Connection Terminals - W-Series & SAK-Series

Weidmuller W-Series Terminals

Terminal blocks with springtype connection technology, i.e. tension clamp. In addition to screwtype terminals we offer our customers the tension clamp technology as a further connection technology system

For a long time now, Weidmüller's screw mains terminals in the W-series have set the standard for functional perfection down to the very last detail. The combination of many advantages today remains unsurpassed and gives the W-series a unique lead on the market.

The Weidmuller W-series offers solutions for conductor cross-sections from 0.05 to 300 mm2 and for all common electrical functions.

One unique feature is the pluggable cross-connector (ZQV) for most terminals with cross-sections 2.5 and 4 mm2. It brings considerable time savings compared to all other screw terminals on the market.

Thanks to the patented design of Weidmüller's screw connection (tension clamp) it is possible for two conductors of the same cross-section to be connected in one and the same clamping point without difficulty.

Design

W-standard from Weidmuller

•Same contour design from 2.5 to 10 mm2

•Conductor sizes from 0.05 to 300 mm2

•Large clamping capacity range
W-compact

•Smaller size

•Identified by an "N" in the typedesignation

•Conductor sizes from 0.05 to150 mm2

The connection

Separation of electrical and mechanical function:

•Clamping unit (tension clamp and clamping screw) of hardened steel for very high contact force

•Busbar of copper for low voltage loss.

Tin-plated surface for minimum contact resistances.

Cross-connections, also pluggable

•Screw-in or pluggable cross-connections

•For screw terminals, the pluggable cross-connection (ZQV) is unique, with considerable time savings

•No maintenance: no need to retighten the clamping screw

•Vibration-proof connection: many W-terminals certified for railway use to EN 61373

•Highest contact force of all connection systems

Safe use

•Shock protection with connected conductors, even with cross-connection

•Terminals supplied with open clamping point. In addition, the misplugging safeguard prevents conductors from being inserted incorrectly (detailed photo).

•Embossing on tension clamp and busbar engage so that even the smallest conductors are reliably clamped; large conductors and also 2 conductors are gripped in the middle.

Standards
The high contact safety and reliability of Weidmüller’s systems is verified by:

•Type-testing to IEC 60947-7-1/-2

•National and international approvals

•Large portfolio with UL and CSA approvals

Weidmuller Push In Technology Terminals

Among the impressive features of the direct Push In connection system are short wiring times and reliable, simple handling.

Weidmuller Push In Technology Terminals

Among the impressive features of the direct Push In connection system are short wiring times and reliable, simple handling.

We have extended our comprehensive range of terminals by introducing at the new family of 3-conductor installation terminals featuring "Push In" technology.

Particularly suitable for energy distribution in building service installations, the roof-style terminals provide convenient wiring solutions. And the technical data testify to their excellence: all the features of a 4 mm² terminal in the size of a 2.5 mm2 type.

Push In terminals can take conductor cross-sectional areas from 0.5 to 4 mm2 and are designed as a TOP system, i.e. with both conductor feed-in and activation of the spring device taking place from above and in parallel.

Direct Push In technology for direct savings

•Up to a 50% time saving when connecting the conductor (3.5 sec. per conductor) compared to the 3-conductor tension clamps:

•The stripped solid conductor is simply pushed into the terminal as far as it will go – that's all there is to it.

•No tools required

•Vibration-proof, gas-proof connection

•Flexible conductors with crimped wire end ferrules or ultrasonic welded conductors can be connected without any problems.
