ifm Sensors > Newest addition to their fail- safe Ifm inductive sensor range.

Ifm sensors have just released another unique fail-safe inductive sensor the brand new ifm GG851S.

This is a fail-safe inductive sensor safe-state with the outputs high, is offered if the target isn't found, for instance beyond the 10mm enable zone, in the area referred to as safe-switch off zone.

When a metal item is detected within the safe switch off zone then the outputs will be turned on. Additionally, the ifm inductive sensors features a significantly broader operating voltage compared to versions before, that allows operation right down to 12VDC. The operating principle may be demonstrated by using the example of a gantry - crane: a fail-safe sensor keeps track of the positioning of the crane on the gantry.

Having a normally open version the sensor would need to be damped along the whole travel to be able to take care of the safe function; the sensor was undamped limited to stop positions. This latest version enables mounting of just one target each at the start and the end of the crane track, therefore saving both money and mounting costs.

Ifm GG851S sensor has a couple of OSSD outputs for connection to a safety relay or PLC the diagnosis of the various operating states created by the LEDS.
