It can be very difficult to find a sensor that can detect clear / shiny, dark glossy or multi-reflective surfaces in automated packing operations for example.

 

It is very difficult when there are complicated curved shapes or clear outlines. Sick sensors new Photoelectric MultiPac optical sensors have just been released and could be the solution to the usually hit and miss sensing problem.

 

 

Sick sensors W27-3 MultiPac is said to get rid of false or misleading signals, therefore providing a very consistent detection of multi - product handling applications, even when the applications are clear, shiny or curved. Sick sensors new photoelectric sensor operates from one fixed point without using reflectors.

 

The sensor can be mounted as much as 500mm above the conveyor, allowing for the detection of a huge selection of shapes and heights. On multiple product lines, adjustments for different pack heights will have been got rid of,  therefore reducing the amount of time wasted and the product flow will be continuous, it also allows for new product lines to be added without any interruption. Sick photoelectric sensors improved detection performance is achieved by having two separate receiver systems in a single unit with a very high-power LED emitter for high light intensity. Sick’s custom developed software allows for a powerful evaluation system to integrate the signals.
